Strada dei Briganti

The route is characterised above all by its scenic interest and largely traffic-free roads. At first there is a slight descent on the road called Tracciolino, which runs alongside the spectacular Gole del Melfa, and then a demanding climb, with gradients of 7/8%, of 7.5 km that leads to the village of Santopadre. Then there is a long descent towards Togna through a silent and unspoilt valley that was once a refuge for brigands. Of great interest is the stretch of road that skirts the Lake Posta Fibreno Nature Reserve.
